What Do They Do?

Church Council - leads the congregation

"The church council is the administrative agency of the charge conference to envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the ministry of the congregation.” (The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, 2016, ¶252)

Board of Trustees - handles all real property

This team, subject to the direction of the charge conference, has oversight and care of all local church property, buildings, and equipment to further the mission of the church. This work is done in consultation with the pastor.

Staff Parish Relations Committee - develops vision and staff priorities

An effective committee builds a strong positive relationship between staff and congregation so that the congregation makes disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This committee will work with the lead pastor and other staff to fulfill legal and ethical responsibilities related to staff.

Finance Committee - ensures financial mission is met or exceeded

An effective finance committee proposes a budget; then manages and distributes the financial resources of the congregation to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the congregation.

Outreach Committee - connects the congregation to community needs

An effective outreach committee identifies, plans, and implements opportunities for the congregation to serve the community in which it is located.

Involvement Team - reaches out to guests and members to involve them in mission

The involvement team is our version of evangelism and membership care. It works to keep members engaged or involved in the ministries of the congregation and to connect new people into those ministries.

Leadership and Nominations Team - prays about and invites the right people to the right leadership positions

This committee invites people to positions of spiritual leadership, receives their responses, and provides training and support for these individuals.
